Reading His Palms For A Hidden Fortune Poem by RIC BASTASA

Reading His Palms For A Hidden Fortune

life's hard he says
he is weary
and wants to die

when he sleeps sometimes
he looks at the lines of his palms
for answers

and then he closes his eyes
as his fingers hang freely beyond
the edge of his bed
