Rainfall... Poem by anju addanki

Rainfall...

The wonderful fall;
Is always rainfall.
Drenches you from top to bottom;
Yet you want the rainfall.
Dancing and singing in the rain;
I always loved rainfall.
As always I took my rug;
And slept as it was nightfall.
The sun rose:
And this morning was so different;
No hustles, No bustles,
No noises, No voices,
No creditors, No debtors,
No buses, No rushes,
I opened my window:
And I fell,
To see the spell,
Of rainfall.

The streets were not filled with water-
But, with blood.
Men, Women, Kids, animals floating -
Only in blood.
My ears could hear only cries;
Kids crying for mothers,
Husbands crying for wives,
Everyone crying for someone.
And my heart cried to see this plight.
And the night fell-
And the rainfall.
But, now I said my prayer;
GOD: Let the rainfall stop,
Let the cries stop,
Bless everyone soul to rest in peace,
As only then I will be at peace.

And after that-
With every rainfall,
And every nightfall,
My heart repeats the prayer;
And with every prayer,
My heart cried,
And my love for rainfall died
