Rainbow Poem by Arvie Calimlim

The rain has just stopped
As I started to walk by
The grounds were still wet
And a rainbow was in the sky

I saw you, sitting all alone
Wet, soaked from the downpour
I approached you, hoping we could talk
As I reached you there was something more

You cried, I know it
Even though you tried to conceal
When you said you were ok
I knew your smile wasn’t real

I looked into your eyes
And there I saw the rainbow
Though it was black and white
And the colors washed with sorrow

So then I gave you a hug
Hoping that you would smile
Even if I knew that your mind
Was traveling for a mile

But still you thanked me
But I knew I didn’t aid
In bringing the colors back
To the rainbow that started to fade
