Rain In A Remote Village Poem by Ramesh Iyengar

Rain In A Remote Village

Rain in a Remote Village

“…Ever seen how wonderful the rain is ! ?
Drops of water, like glass needles, fall so gently,
Up from the sky
On a clear evening, wetting the land,
washing the plants, as rain water runs floods everywhere.
Every worker returns home wet.
Cyclists and vehicles swim in the traffic.
Streets washed with muddy water, filling every pit and hole.
Poor men find no place to live, yet,
School children in joy jump for another holiday...”
