Rain-Bound (2004) Poem by Lillian B. Rose

Rain-Bound (2004)

Lost was love, condition foretold
Inside a private moment bluttered
When you drove me home
whispers of pain cutting the night

Voice and Face played poker
with you in my heart
words describing the thunder
pulling us apart

Nothing left but to leave
you sought me out
An embrace paid for eyes
filled with rain that night

Emptiness filing worn-out shoes
Heart on the brink of self-destruction
I wanted so much to stay
Wrapped up, home in your arms

I was not your shelter
As the rain pelted down
around our bound relationship
Splintering into pieces
