Rain Poem by Anuraag Sharma

Rain

Drip - drop, drip-drop
it rained over my roof-top
upon my tin - shade wetting the walls
and the fields behind and the green crop
drip-drop…

And then a torrential momentum it made
I ran and ran like a mouse
it rained and rained cats & dogs
drenching a peepal in front of my house
watery nails hammered into the outstretched palms
of a green Christ!
The sky wept, the earth cried
the heavens bowed in apology & lo!
There appeared a pied and pious rainbow?
