Radio Poem by Ayn Timmerman

Radio

Rating: 3.5

With a flick of a switch
I discovered the entire
world had jumped without me.

The first station began talking
of solid ground, hope, and
Him.

Trying again, this time
bombings, genocide,
and numbers of dead.

Both stations hours before-
were streaming hit after hit,
wailing of timeless emotions
of love, rage, and addiction.

Now, in its place, testimony
of the existence of heaven and hell,

where before brainless notes
half-heartedly stimulated a numb mind.

Then I moved the switch
to FM and forgot
what I heard just then.
