Race Winner - The Weed Poem by Jayatissa K. Liyanage

Race Winner - The Weed

Nature put you in a culture to share
Yet, an outcast, man wouldn't care
Fate‘s marked, wherever you are
Meagerly exist in Mother Nature's care

Pulled out, trampled 'n ousted
Yet, you rise sneakily, on ground
From the seed, afar, winds brought
Soaking in dew, before day broke

Pushed up cotyledons seeing world
Put out few leaves on feeble trunk
Quenched thirst from feet, dew wetted
Hopes on next rain, was never a bet

In haste, roots roamed earth
From celestial, leaves caught photons
Brought into being, best possible blossom
Well above the rest, in the environment

Contained all facets, seemed faultless
Used opportunity within what is given
Executed bounden duty, near perfection
Weed per se, a role model, par exceptional!
