Quiapo Easter
QUIAPO EASTER
Manila, Phjilippines
The spirits emerge
In light of Easter morning,
Anitos and angels and devas
Of my City of highrise and shanty.
Swiftly the sun and sky
Claim the dark esteros.
Waterlilies define themselves
With the river Pasig
In programmed rehabilitation.
The light catches all
For the fulfillment of eyes
And the heart’s connecting.
Light alive and alert
Before my whistling.
