Queers In Heaven Poem by Ramona Thompson

Queers In Heaven

Dark rewrite/parody of Eric Clapton's Tears In Heaven

Inspired by a very hateful preacher

Not meant to offend only meant to make you think

Would you want your name written besides theirs in Heaven?
Would it ever be the same for you and what you believe if you saw them in Heaven?
We must be strong and preach on
'Cause we know they don't belong up there in Heaven

Would you want to hold their hands if you saw them in Heaven?
Would you be ashamed if you saw them kissing in Heaven?
Brothers and sisters I swear
We'll find a way to get them all out
Both lesbian and gay
'Cause we know they don't belong up there in Heaven

Together we can bring them down down, together we can cut them off at the knees
Together we can make a new start, have them begging please, begging please

Beyond the door there'll be peace we can all be sure
If only there are no queers in Heaven

Would you want your name written besides theirs in Heaven?
Would it ever be the same for you and what you believe if you saw them in Heaven?
We must be strong and preach on
'Cause we know they don't belong up there in Heaven
'Cause we know they don't belong up there in Heaven
