Pub.....Lished Poem by Ted Sheridan

Pub.....Lished

Rating: 5.0

I was up all hours last night
insomniac that am
worried about money

politics and war
Deadlines and bodies
of editors and critics

danced through my brain
Rejection notices
declared bankruptcy

before I could mail the bills
Mother in laws
warned their daughters

about me
and my numerous infidelities
no matter how many times

I divorced them of thought
Old soldiers
marched into my dreams

parading their bloody colors
as I dozed off into my eternal sleep
shouting 'Kill the bums'

while firing shots
of Irish whiskey
round after round

over my still born
drunken head
Here all this time

I'd been thinking
they were already dead.....
There is only one thing in this world

prohibiting me from going insane
and it's this picture of my beautiful muse
who keeps rewriting

the last few chapters of my life
as if it really matters to her
how and when I call it quits
and finally write 'The End'___

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

The last bit of this is absolutely beautiful. The rest is just, typically, brilliant. (And it's quarter past four in the morning here and I know just what you mean) . t x

Really does capture the flavour of those restless nights when things just dont want to settle down and create anxiety for the future, thanks Ted.
