Psalm 51 Poem by Frank McEleny

Psalm 51

Create in me a clean heart o God
And renew a right spirit within me
Create in me a clean heart o God
Release me from this sin and set me free

Restore unto me, the joy of my salvation
And take not thy holy Spirit from me
Restore unto me the joy of my salvation
O Lord I was so blind but now I see

Wash me with your cleansing blood
Wash me whiter than the whitest snow
Wash me with your cleansing blood
May I surrender to the heavnly flow

A broken and a contrite heart
These I know you'll not despise
A broken and a contrite heart
On your mercy my heart alone relies

Without your hand I could not stand
My heart would crumble in the dust
I have no other place to go
In God alone I put my trust

Where could I go where would I turn?
For you are life all else is death
I'll walk with you my heart shall burn
And I will feel the Spirit's breath
