Promise!
On arrival of the New Year!
You will not stitch a patch,
Or any rag on the edge of dress,
Dingy, spotted with odium
And displeasures,
Soaked with tears, wrapped in sighs,
Taken out of the basket
Of the bygone year.
Promise!
