Prisons Before Schools Poem by Kevin Patrick

Prisons Before Schools

Sage, pinstriped bluebloods drool over discipline squawking for enforcement with premeditative justice
As if to stem the growing molehills of capital offences
Encroaching our frail nation with undue hardship tribulation
They flail their arms with statistics like doe eye Chicken Little's
Their Red veins palpitating. Through haggard cogent faces Pointing their sausage fingers at the face of moral decay
And Declare our only solution is to fund for new stockades

After all their battle cry is imperceptive to any lies
Just As Murders mount in double figures,
AND sex offenders are on virtual corners Junkies loiter on the sidewalks where the common man is exposed The price of mugging is skyrocketing
To a micromanaged epidemic Laws are dislodged by delinquents mounting assaults in twos and threes'

'Our only hope' they say
'Is to make all criminals pay'
And Build Prisons before schools
Before they start to use after-shave

We'll Downturn the programs of socialist scholastics
And lease all the teachers to jailers, and Wardens
Expand cell blocks for class rooms, and fill up the latter
With the cretin denizens of the deprived and disabled

As the Tories say in their most vigilant ways
'We must curb the tide of crime;
at exactly dinnertime
Our constituency demand it
with microwave commandments
Educations incidental,
For obedience and good manners
To question endorses sedition
And Learning enlightens sheep

Prisons before schools
Will keep us from feeling free
