Prisoner Of One`s Own Words Poem by ONElia AVElar

Prisoner Of One`s Own Words

Rating: 3.3

You are not prisoner
of what you say today.
Do not lock yourself
in cell of words, do not
build a citadel.
We need no promises,
we need no pledge.
We stay together -
you and me, as long
as we feel free...

PS.: I am not prisoner of
my words, so, please
be kind - forget it all,
do not take the key.
Thank you.

Aren't there always ties? 'I know that we had both resolved that love was just a harmless game, but fear that I became involved the moment that I asked your name.' A thoughtful poem, as always, One. F

love still flows by the words as when pledged to its whisper even locked by the speckles when bristles yet by its reeks of illusion in its room still not deluded as we do feel as prisoner as the passion seemingly listless by diffusion..................one of the most powerful poem by the imagery yet of unique genere, love when seems to be the game of love by words that happens to happen then and there.......splendid work by the ingenuity,10/10, thanks for sharing

You seem to raise a dilemma in the 'PS' which I recognise - we are voluntary 'prisoners' when we love, no matter how we protest that declarations, words, can't be binding on lovers. 'Be kind - do not take the key' is an original thought about the lover's situation - bound voluntarily, at the mercy of the loved one. I hope I read this aright? As usual, your poem is condensed and mysterious, so that my comments, in contrast, are wordy and inept. Sorry I've taken so long to discover this interesting piece, One. x Jan

Two themes bound together in a delicate fabric - the key to security is in the way we use words which bind us to our beliefs...

Words can come back to haunt, but only if we look at the words and not the person....beautiful sentiments here...Coach

I love the message in this poem Onelia, makes me think. And yes, we sometimes do make people prisoner's of their own words. Unfortunately our words may stay but feelings can change. HG: -) xxx
