Pretty Soldier In Stoned Love Poem by Yewande Adedokun

Pretty Soldier In Stoned Love

Rating: 3.0

She swore she loves him
And will never hurt him
She looks him in the eye to convince him
With her cold heart she warms the sheet with him
When she goes home her heart glows in the dark unknown to him
She has a secret she keeps
She always knew it will only be a matter of time
Because she likes to read first the last pages
She knows what is to come but keeps it from him
You are surprised she is never surprised
Her heart knows no break, it’s made out of steel
See herself as a soldier
All she is now she gets from the battlefield
And when he found her, she was on a battleship
Who brings love to the war front?
She cast blind eye to his wrongs
A smooth sail all along
Leaving him without his legs on the floor
All through the ride and night wind being the learned sailor
He wants to get off the boat
She let him go
No glancing back. You have never met her kind
Till he ended it in ‘the five’
Five months to get on-board
Five years to get off-board
Her life is not about wining wars
It is about living the war
Listen to her song
No one needs true love if they can love truly
She is a bad looser, but that is how she wins
When she says she is not strong
There is a tiny voice saying ‘common on little heart made of steel’
Covering wounds that never heals
She dances with the devil loving how he pretends to care
But she knows she was born a tortoise, born to walk alone
The more she fights, the lesser weight she intends to carry
Him leaving came easy
Forget about it, you will not understand all she sees
Because in the end the road is long
She delights in its tweaks and turns
It was not about him for a long time
She lives her life in a way death of any kind don’t scare
It rather motivates with a certain flame
If she is going to die by a bullet, she wills it not as a mistake
Willing to earn her death as deserved, no sympathy needs
Ain't she a lovely, pretty liar you never observed?
Wonder why she always leaves with a smile or laugh
She knows she never goes wrong on the real side of life
And that is her lie, the lie through which she survives
