Pretty Little Brown Skin Girl Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Pretty Little Brown Skin Girl

A song he said reminded him of me......He bought me the '45' recording as a gift...
'Pretty little brown skin girl' he said, oh how your eyes tantalize...
Then he'd say with a smile,
'Your lips are sweeter than honey'...
'You will be forever mine! He chanted to anyone that would listen,
'She is my one true love! ' He boasted...
'Pretty little brown skin girl with an enchanting smile! ' he whispered as we whiled away hours and hours and years of laughter and dancing...then
One day he went away...at no fault of his own...
Perhaps we will meet again in that new promised place and
he will know me...
His Pretty Little Brown Skin Girl..
Oh! We shared a treasured love!
