Pretty Fly For A... Poem by Aria Siren

Pretty Fly For A...

I must say
You impressed me
Left your memory
Lingering where you used to be

Yet I continue to try
To sweep you from my mind
To push your shadow from my side
With motives I can't define

Together we danced all night
But never danced together
You catch my eye
Like a moth to the light
But my mind changes with the weather

And looks that dart and change
Shooting at me like a gun
Hushed whispers exchanged
Always make me turn and run

I wear my heart beating on my sleeve
But not before I know what my feelings will be
I don't want you to feel deceived
So I prefer to love from a distance, privately
Though I am unsure what it all means
If reality will allow me this scene to keep
I will let myself indulge in a few dreams
And learn to float before I'm in too deep

You don't fit my usual mold
But I never was good at concealing a lie
I laugh at myself and have to fold
You're pretty fly for a white guy
