Pretenders Poem by Persa Corbalokovic

Pretenders

We are pretending I’m his friend.
No, no, I’m pretending I’m his friend.
In actual fact, his friend I’m not, at all.

The love I feel for him no one can mend.
I swear I did try some other way to bend.
But I dunno how to fend for myself, at all.

Whichever way I try to go I reach a dead end,
Whatever e-mail as a little bond I try to send,
Can’t hide the pain that rends my heart, at all.
