Praying A Relief Poem by Amitava Sur

Praying A Relief

Rating: 4.8

Cutting the trees and uprooting grasses
The giant like sky scrapers are built.
Oh' my my, I like to remain
Miles away from this.
I'm tired of this monstrous city,
Finding no soul in it.

My heart still runs -
After those butter flies and moths,
I still dream of roaming in meadows
Within those daisies and lilies.
I see myself running in the aisle
Between the green paddy fields.

Walking bare footed on the dew laden grass -
I'm wetting my feet in them.
Sitting solitarily by the side of a lake
Watching king fishers, scooping their prey.

O' Lord you take this heartless and polluted city
And give back that forest with plenty of beauty.
Let us breathe some garden fresh air again
And think something wise and act like human.

For one brought up in the serenity of the countryside, a city with its teeming population, pollution and noise is always repulsive... I can very well identify myself with your thoughts Amitava! If you want to enjoy tranquillity, withdraw to the quiet of a village!

Amitava, I can picture you as a child running through the meadows, chasing butterflies and moths picking daisies and lilies for your mom. Walking bare footed in the paddy's and on the grass, not a care in the world, being curious about everything! Watching king fishers scoop up their prey, I can imagine how exciting for a young boy! After enjoying all that beauty and fresh air, I can see how the cities have ruined everything, polluting the once pristine countryside! What a shame that we need to progress, it seems to only make us go backwards. An excellent poem, Amitava, I love it! ! Protecting the environment is dear to my heart also. Thank you for reading and commenting on my poem: Always Thinking Of You, I sincerely appreciate it. RoseAnn

Beautiful poem. Very true said, trees are cut down and scraper in its place. The beauty of nature that once stood in its place is gone forever. Walking bare footed on the dew laden grass - I'm wetting my feet in them. Walking on green grass is very good for health. But now it's too vanishing. The serenity of nature is diminishing. Lakes, green paddy fields, everything is going to be too far from us. Loved all the scenery you came up in this poem. I could visualise it well. Loved reading it.

Nice poem. Green paddy fields and meadows have a charm of their own so hard to find in busy city life.
