Prayer Of A Pathetically Passionate Poet Poem by Hebert Logerie

Prayer Of A Pathetically Passionate Poet

God, teach me how to write better
Than the last famous Poets
Teach me when to use epithets
And words that can cure cancer.

God, teach me how to read like a genius
And how to console the broken hearts
Love is never enough in many strange parts
Of the world. Protect me, I want to be pious.

Thank you for reminding me that Shakespeare
Had lived under a slightly older sky
And only the clouds are young and dear.

Maya Angelou is already flying too high
To return to earth
Under the guise of a new birth.
