Politicians Poem by Eric Niehoff

Politicians

Real issues avoided,
Lies told to distract
Opinions are used
in place of the facts

Public and private lives
Combined without cause
These men are in charge
Of writing our laws

Medical and legal fields
Are well represented
But as for the common man
This group is resented

Even voted out of office
They get a pension for life
While other laid-off citizens
Must deal with their strife

Pork belly projects
And lobbyist control
How can average people
Accomplish their goal?

Detached from their voters
Hundreds of miles away
Little accomplished
In an average work day

A necessary evil,
A system so flawed
Awareness is needed
To break through the façade
