Poisoned Chalice Poem by Steve Ricketts

Poisoned Chalice

Rating: 5.0

Take away this poisoned cup, this tainted chalice that I can see, a wicked temptation you may be, why is it not a pain cup I see. Dazzling before my very eyes, do you not think I'd recognise, a plan to keep my mind amused, to tricked me with your merry muse.

For if I wish to drink this wine, should it not be of my own time. Take this chalice away from me, leave it where my eyes can't see, tempt me not any more, for my mind is weak and I'm not sure. Questions now come to mind, should I just taste that poison wine. Will it be a sad goodbye, or will I find my hearts desire.

Can you see what you have done, it's in my mind that I'm not sure, this world of mine holds for me, nothing more than misery. A life so fine I once had, pleasures more than any man could need, a life so full and complete, but lost to me in one heart beat.

Another great poem - sad and deep. Love your imagery and expression. Thank you for sharing, RoseAnn
