Poin·set·ti·a Poem by RIC BASTASA

Poin·set·ti·a

showy shrub
scarlet bracts
beneath the small
yellow flowerlike
inflorences

so beautiful to see
but the drops of
its white sap
may cause the blindness
of your eyes

sad poinsettia
alone she prays
to the sun
to restore the sight
of the man
she deeply loves
