Poetry For Children: Terror Of A Teacher ©

My teacher's a terror, she terrifies me,
She's stern and she scolds and she stares balefully;
Her voice is like thunder; when she roars in my ears,
my heart starts to tremble, my eyes fill with tears.

Her hair is the colour, of blackest charcoal
On the tip of her nose, she has a black mole;
She stomps around class, on feet that are flat,
I'm certain at home, she has an evil black cat.

Her ears are fine tuned, she can hear my heart beat,
Though I tiptoe to class, on the lightest of feet;
In her classroom, you can hear the drop of a pin,
And I've noticed that she has, hair on her chin.

Well, one day I misplaced my pencil and book,
I knew she would know and she gave me a look;
She strode to my desk, She was terribly near,
Trembling, I looked up, my heart filled with fear.

Oh! was I dreaming? Had I fainted with fright?
Had my fear and my trembling, affected my sight?
She was smiling at me, she noticed my plight,
Smiling gently at me, she said, "My dear, it's alright! "

Her voice was as soft, as the falling of snow,
Her black hair shone brightly, like a radiant halo;
She gave me her pencil, and a notebook brand new,
saying, "Keep it my dear, that's just for you! "

Her face was alight, her smile reached her eyes,
I know now, My Teacher is an angel in disguise!
