Poetry Poem by Maureen Pickford

Poetry

It's how
you say
what you
leave out

It's leaving
images
imprinted on
your eyeballs

It's saying
verse
to wrap your heart
with words

It's remembering
rhyme
to keep for a time
when needed as armour
to shield yourself from
our barmy world

It tells us of
life and death
from the first
uttered cry
to the last
breathed sigh
