Poetic Remains Poem by RAJ NANDY

Poetic Remains

POETIC REMAINS

Bury me with a copy of my book of
verse,
When time comes for me to rest;
Keep this book close to my heart,
By placing it squarely upon my chest!
There is no need to lament my demise,
Since my soul shall remain forever
enshrined, -
In all my verses and poetic lines,
To survive the oblivion of time,
As memories gradually fade!
For once my soul breaks the mould,
Nothing else shall ever remain;
Save my book of verse on this earth,
As my sole poetic remains!

I have for some time been trying to write a poem on this subject after a conversation with a friend of mine in which she stated that through our writing we are all searching for a grain of immortality.So far that is as far as I have managed, the title, A Grain of Immortality.Liked your poem very much but have to say your owrds will probably last longer on here than placed on your heart at the end, ashes to ashes as they say.Now there is a thought, will the net become too full and old stuff be deleted by some great God in the internet sky best regards Bill

As art is immortal it will always survive our mortal body….the long gone artist are still read and we talk and discuss about them as if they are still alive today. A sensitive gesture about the mortality of man in contrast to immortality of Poetic art… Abha
