Poem's a Poem

A poem's not
A black cat hiding
Under the bed
In a dark room.

Poem's the cat
That jumps to life
At mice of ideas
Roaming around.

Poem's organized
Presentation of
A whole bunch of
Disorganized thoughts.

Or it could be
A disorganized set
Of wild thoughts
Of an ordered mind.

Poem looks at
Extraordinary aspects
Of simple and ordinary
Events in life.

Or it could be
An ordinary view
Of something
Very special.

Every subject's
Topic for a poem
Every person
A poet unique.

Yes, I think a poet is an always-young cat. Too many idea mice to chase. Frantic fun the chase and, mouse trapped - just let it go! (Report) Reply

Poem of the Day

poet George Gordon Byron

So we'll go no more a-roving
So late into the night,
Though the heart still be as loving,
And the moon still be as bright.
