Please Go To Sleep Poem by Matthew Whatley

Please Go To Sleep

Hey girl - sleep's falling so don't you think,
among the moonscapes and star shines that blink
we sink
we sink
we sink.
To talk is to chance, to shatter this ethereal silence.
Please don't start again
with that siren rendition of how I don't understand,
and I have no compassion.

Hey girl - do you know what it's like to be adored
even though you keep me bound down
to your vexing floor?

Hey girl - there's silver moonshine slow skating
across the night sky,
like canvas painted by some ancient god.
Brings to the soul the peaceful messenger's call.

Hey girl - I can stand your low dips
into your psychotic bliss
- the kitchen knives and their serrations that usually miss.

Hey girl - sleep's falling so don't you think,
among the moonscapes and star shines that blink
we sink
we sink
we sink.
