Playing In The Rain Poem by Jayson Howard

Playing In The Rain

I've got the rain, on my side.
Its autumn, and there's no place left to hide.
I know it's been days since I've heard your voice.
The whispers are all I have left.
I know if I had a choice,
there'd be no second guess.
I've been working with my play on words,
but when you speak yours, they just hurt.

The nights, pull me away,
So I can't remember the day,
and how it all fell apart.
So much for staying awake.
So much for seizing the day,
when everything falls apart.

And when the rain, is not on my side,
you give me life, you give light,
Because you are the sun, you are the one.
And with these whispers you left for me,
none are as good as the real thing.

The nights put me to sleep,
and you're in every dream,
because you can't leave, my heart.
So much for staying awake.
So much for seizing the day,
since it all fell apart.

(I want to hate you, but I can't.
When I try to forget you,
and then I see your face,
its like falling in love,
over and over again.
I want to seize the day,
I want you to see it my way.)

It's been pouring so much lately,
the rain is against me.
Where'd my life go, where'd my light go?
You took it with you, didn't you?
The days aren't getting anywhere,
Because I'm stuck on you.
