Playdough Poem by Robert Sheridan

Playdough

Together with it’s teacher – Silly Putty
Helped to lay-out the foundations
of a children’s culture
Playdoughs brilliance as an
enjoyable toy
Was reflected in Silly Putty’s image.

Playdough was conceived in Greece –
His father was Mr. Potato head
His mother became pregnant by misconception
Studied at the School of Playdoughonism
Main uses were to be molded & shaped
Had a certain sweetness of style.

Playdough traveled extensively abroad through
the ages, finally settled in the U. S. of A.
Where it founded kindergarten activities
Many modern intellectuals were schooled
in this toddler’s academy
Was the framework of a child’s intelligence.

Much on it’s mind was the
parent/child relationship
Molded the idea that knowledge
came in all sizes & makes
Always had a way of converting the
‘little things’ thoughts into shapes.

Now if you could write one about one of my favorite toys, the Erector set.
