Play Pay Poem by Ima Ryma

Play Pay

Cave people came up with the game
Of playing ball with this or that -
Rock, plant or beast part with the aim
Of fun - at some point added bat.
And through the ages, ball games did
Get tied to money more and more.
Star players knew no pay day lid,
Cuz fans would pay out cash galore,
To watch a player do the stuff
With a ball that was so awesome,
That the fans could not get enough.
Cave people would have thought this dumb.

Star players make an endless haul
To the bank on a bouncing ball.
