Plastic Trees Poem by maggie signaigo

Plastic Trees

Rating: 4.0

'I think that I shall never see
a poem as lovely as a tree'?
'Poems are made by fools like me
but only God can make a tree'?
Clever words for on a 'fridge
has Joyce Kilmer ever been to Garden Ridge?
I see trees there...kinda made of wood
but plastic leaves...they don't look so good.

At first I was fooled...maybe like a mirage
but no...this was made in someone's garage
Representative i guess of the world today
the lifestyle we live...and what we portray
A 'fast lane' culture...full of shortcuts
the tree is fake like so many of us
We want things now...why should we wait?
Make it happen...forget about fate

Joyce Kilmer's poem was simple and pure
Straight to the point...he was so sure
Who could argue his logic and verse?
He was second...his creator was first
His poem withstands the test of time
and it motivated me to write this rhyme
So poets unite...take your chances please
Joyce Kilmer never counted on plastic trees.
