Plantation Poem by Randy Todd

Plantation

walls of love
in wartime
pouring rain
in sunshine

the hotter the wind
the deeper the root
is driven underground
the drier the sand
the stronger the seed
that dares to sprout

life, fragile life...
the tiny dream before we die

child
every one of us
to the world
just a flicker
in this swirl of stars
we scratch upon the shell
but rarely reach the pearl

a call to arm
our resolve
the tree of liberty
dying for the uninvolved

so marginalize
greenwash our eyes
just don't be surprised
when sleeping giants
just need noise
to arise

and overturn
your trickle down
egoistic, so sadistic
system of
keeping down resistance
while you rape and pillage

won't give in
without a fight
this is basic
human rights
not to let you poison every future
to enrich your own lives

your corporate plantation
has united us
in a new
global nation
