Plague Of Ignorance Poem by Luka Lebowski

Plague Of Ignorance

Rating: 4.8

What we suppose to do
when the judges gather around
just to eat us alive
and we are too close out there
too close with our hearts
and no one can see how we feel
we are just unknown
it's why they despise us
petting our heads when we agree
yet ready to put a bullet in there
when we want to be free
just see me how I am
there are billions of us
just see me how I am
to cure this disease
the plague of ignorance
so painful, this loneliness
livin' inside my shoebox
stored safe and secure
how's this for a diet meal
a canned fool in his own screw up
there's no answer for people
no map leading to sanctuary
no medical miracle to make us happy
so keep your head low
chin pressed in your chest
while marchint to make more paper
for this is what the life's all about
be safe so people don't need to worry
be safe, stay, preserve this bullshit
so you can live long, yet boring
live long so they can feed on you
live long in the name
of what humankind has become
yeah, I know people will be unhappy
when someone in the line starts making difference
it's all contagious, the worries, the need
it's all that we agreed on some point
that there's no point in showing
that you're actually a living being
after all who needs to see the world
when we can see the likes of it
at least in fb
just see me how I am
there are billions of us
just see me how I am
to cure this disease
the plague of ignorance

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
So I wrote a poem about transgenderity to lift a subject up a little bit. I have a close friend who got herself fixed and seems more happy now that I've ever seen. Before this when she was he, she was unhappy and quite lonely. So I wrote a poem about an transgender astronaut who left from planet earth to find a way to change a gender and posted it on some sexuality-oriented website. People didn't like this, transgenders got offended, other people were upset for the subject... so this poem over here is just basically what I started feeling. I agree that the transgender poem was quite provocative, but still in general it made me think of how transgenders are treated and even how transgenders themselves first assume that someone is trying to hurt them when writing something about them. My self I don't feel a barrier of writing about this subject more than I'd feel about writing of sexuality of heterosexuals or homosexuals. I believe that people are morally justified on doing anything in the world, as long as they won't hurt other people and allow everyone else the same privilege.

''people are morally justified on doing anything in the world, as long as they won't hurt other people and allow everyone else the same privilege.'' well said, Luka. We all are just human beings, namely living creatures 'product' of a biological evolution. As I'm not a believer (I'm agnostic) I'm not interested in arguing who-&-why 'created' us and the universe.. the important thing is just the fact that all of us are equal, so “thou shalt love thy neighbor as yourself” is a 'must' also for non religious people like myself. And we have to particularly respect all those persons who are suffering.. Transgenders suffer their situation because of a society, a culture, which dislikes any 'diversity'... Then, thanks for sharing your write, Luka, I praise your choice. WELCOME AT POEM HUNTER!

Ignorance is a disease. A disease of uneducated prejudice. All humans have the right, as you so eloquently state, to express who they are, just so long as it doesn't harm anyone. Offending some ignorant moral view does not harm. Wonderfully written, Luka. Thank you for sharing. Peace

Times have changed...I am from a genre that generally abhorred alternate love & lifestyles...That said, I am still alive & am living in a new genre...one of more acceptance and less stoneheadedness. I applaud your effort and even as a practicing Roman Catholic I must say, Although my own personal preferences may differ from that as your friend...Because I am a Roman Catholic and have taken heed to Pope Francis' recent comments of acceptance, I have an obligation to accept & respect any persons right to be who &they want to be & what makes themselves feel most comfortable living in their own flesh & blood for a liferime...Kudos, Luka! ~FjR~
