Places To Go Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Places To Go

As an angel,
I know you have other obligations.
But did you have to leave, so soon.
A question that goes without answer.
Without reason to why,
my dreams have been filled with darkness
since you left.
No longer the light shed when I'd rest my head
against your shoulder.
Total disregard to the pillows.
Left untouched. Still made up from earlier
As I'd sit & listen to you quote the bible.
Wishing you'd return in haste.
I know your home is else where,
I never expected you to stay a night or two
In a tourist like suite.
With A closer view of the clouds, softly painted against the sky.
Decked out with fancy robes, and hot tubs.
I know you cared nothing about the sights.
Manmade structures made to glow one light at a time,
As you your self, were a wonder of the world.
We hardly spoke since then.
Did you have to leave, so soon.
Loitering in thought.
When my eyes close it's you I seek. Your words of enlightenment.
The deep sighs that stain the grass early in the morning
Wings spread so far apart.
Did you have to go so soon
