Philippines To The World Poem by Bijei Añonuevo

Philippines To The World

Spanish, Japanese and American era has gone through
Numerous wars and colonization has ended though
Peace and freedom was awarded a long time ago
Let that colonial mentality and discrimination go

Don’t treat me like dirt of the society
Stop blaming me for your misfortune and anxiety
We may have lifestyles of our own
But we are the same man the earth has ever known

Ignorant, uneducated, an INDIO is what I referred to most of you
Low class and a follower of you know who
What can I do if you already judge me?
Give me a chance, you never let me

When I came to you knowingly
You would stare at me like I’m the alien of today
Spare me of your arrogance and intimidating personality
Just let me try to make my own way

If you can’t accept me, respect me instead
We are different, but we can be united
Don’t look at my inequalities and imperfections
But try to love me for my sincere existence and loyal offerings
