Phantom Of Love Poem by Lora Colon

Phantom Of Love

Rating: 5.0

What sad music plays in my heart,
No earthly sorrow can compare
To the longing that burns in me
When I reach for love that's not there

Waves crash upon a lonely shore,
Clouds hide the sun, my days are dark,
I look for footprints in the sand....
O, why does his love leave no mark?

My paradise is unfulfilled,
All the trees are withering and dry,
The angel at the gate has left,
Once again, God's dream gone awry

But this is my realm, my domain,
I suffer from mortal desire,
A phantom of love leaves me to cry....
Come light a spark, set me on fire

I need my love beside me now,
I need to feel his gentle touch,
Soft lips to kiss, a hand to hold,
Yet, I feel I ask for too much

Even the lark's solitary flight
Is soon joined by a loving mate,
Though my phantom offers his love,
For the flesh, I'm condemned to wait!
