Peyote Moon Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Peyote Moon

Laid out in a perfect circle
Sun dial and moon beams
Stars like gems of ancient brooks
Rocks and stones placed in sequence
Caves with cryptic planet systems
They have left
They travel like the Northern Lights
Tonight I see a shooting star
I know they are looking
The dancing ones of eons
Great plains fill with ghost buffalo
The future shall save the past
Time is a magic fire
The peyote moon rises over the desert

Your individual phrases are so replete with insight and out-sight that I keep pausing in reading to let each one sink deeper within my memory. To paraphrase Coleridge, THIS IS GOD'S PLENTY! You create a seamless pattern that embodies both the Native People's ancient culture and Later American modern culture. And I sense the Native American Spirituality is what guides you to embody this Unified Reconciled Vision. It's what we need N-O-W to survive both morally and physically. And I'm glad to find this wisdom so openly expressed in the vexed year of presidential politics.
