Perpetual Man Poem by Robert Sheridan

Perpetual Man

Perpetual, man your time is spent
Perpetual, man how you are dead and gone
And you did what you could, therefore repent.
Perpetual Man
Perpetual, man fell from heaven to hell
Perpetual, man how you condemned all
In hell for you to dwell.
Perpetual God
Perpetual, God gave goodness and his promise made
Perpetual, God how he sent his Son doubtless
Our sins to be re-dressed, be not afraid.
Perpetual Angels
Perpetual, angels on golden wings
Perpetual, angels sung praises to our King
And peace to our living, with goodwill.
Perpetual Shepherds
Perpetual, shepherds amazed to hear angels sing
Perpetual, shepherds amazed how it should come to pass
That the Messiah should be our King.
Perpetual Birth
Perpetual, birth the shepherds to see
Perpetual, birth did happen, it was so
Whether the Messiah was born to set man free.
Perpetual Messiah
Perpetual, Messiah so he came to past
Perpetual, Messiah was found a babe where he lay
In the manger wrapped in hay, so poor he was.
Perpetual born
Perpetual, born for man’s own sake
Perpetual, born for us that we were forlorn
And thereby took no scorn, our flesh to take.
Perpetual God
Perpetual, God always, with a heart so forgiving
Perpetual, God always, for this our best day
Let all of us sing praise.
