Perhaps I Should Look Forward To My Own Eternal Oblivion Poem by Shalom Freedman

Perhaps I Should Look Forward To My Own Eternal Oblivion

PERHAPS I SHOULD LOOK FORWARD TO MY OWN ETERNAL OBLIVION

Perhaps I should look forward
To my own eternal oblivion-

After all I know myself
I know my sins and lusts
I know the long record of my own failure
I know how great my limitations-

I know so much that is wrong with me
Why should weakness and sin and pain
Go on forever?

Why should I continue to be
When what I am also includes so much undesirable
Even to myself?
