People Kill, Guns Do Not... Poem by Hebert Logerie

People Kill, Guns Do Not...

A deranged person with a machine gun
Is a disaster waiting to happen.
A machine gun is a mass killing instrument.
No one should have one in an apartment.
No one should carry one in the streets.
No one should have one in the back seats.
There is an unnecessary war going on in our neighborhood.
People need clothes, work, medicine and food;
Not guns, not illegal drugs and not hollow rhetorics.
We want stringent and effective gun control now.
We all know why now; stop asking and wondering how.
We MUST find a way to solve this hot issue.
Put our marbles together; we all need toilet tissue,
Not gun. A sick person with a gun is a disaster waiting to happen.
Dictators with stock pile of weapons massacre their citizens
To stay in power, to create more hell on earth, not heaven.
We want gun control now, otherwise the criminals roaming the plains
Will have a feast; they will massacre men and women, children and babies.
No one should have an Uzi in the back seats,
No one should carry an M16 in the streets.
A high-powered weapon is a mass killing machine that can destroy families,
Communities and institutions. We want all illegal guns away from our backyard.
Over the years, we have seen too many executions. It is not hard
To comprehend why we are sick and tired of witnessing so much violence.
We have seen enough bloodshed. Let's use our God's given common sense.
People use guns to kill, let's educate them. Our duly elected officials
Must act expeditiously, not later. Later will be too late. Keep the politics
Away from this quagmire. People need help not countless bowls
Of bad soup, please understand exactly what I mean. The ticks
Stink, let's get rid of them. Let's put them in quarantine.
We all deserve to be safe and to live in peace, in accordance with the Koran;
In agreement with the Bible. We have to protect our children, women and men.
Our officials must act now; stop spilling the bad soup of politics.
Remember all previous massacres in the U.S., Auschwitz and Haiti;
The vespers of Jeremy, Haiti, les vêpres de Jérémie.
