Pearls Before Swine Poem by Cory Fox

Pearls Before Swine

You hide that twisted smile in your glance
No one to keep your hunger in check
Trust that when she rejects your advance
Brute force prevails over romance
She'll submit when your hands are at her neck

Blind to it all, at least so it seems
Regardless of where you draw the line
Her broken faith and her broken dreams
Her heart breaking beneath broken screams
Humanity just pearls before swine

Shallow, selfish, you take all you can
And ask that I cast in my lot too?
Try and tell me I don't understand
That it's all a part of being a man
There's a special place in Hell for you

The damage you've done we can't undo
But justice will repay you in time
If you were alone, you'd feel this too
If there weren't so damn many of you
Mercy? Forgiveness? Pearls before swine
