Peace Poem by TMA

Peace

Rating: 5.0

In this world, there’s so much beauty
So much to love, and to cherish
To protect these is Man’s duty
Yet all he seems to do is embellish...

The air’s foul with sounds of conflict
The fields are defiled with spilt blood
Is this not enough to convict
Men to abandon War, which drives them mad?

Daily there are children screaming
Mothers, in despair, clutch their heads…
Scarlet rivulets are streaming
From heaps of the dying and the dead…

Wicked men are always scheming
How their ill-got wealth to increase
Still, everyday I am dreaming
Of one sweet, serene day of perfect peace…

A dream of an end to vi’lence
Carried to me by my forebears
When the rifles shall be silent
And all the swords beaten into ploughshares…
