Pay A Visit To A Riverbank

Rating: 4.9

  In the overgrowth and swamps
Many of the plant kingdom may look like weeds
Floating winged seeds that grew into reeds
Plants like seaweeds
Seeds scattered like beads.
All that wet rough marsh
on my soft dermis too harsh
Gumboots a good idea!
Or when can't go there
may watch it
in the encyclopaedia.
Gumboots prevent bugs sticking to your soft skin
From the shrubs, herbs and rushes so great for gazing
The more covered up the better to prevent harmful bites
From fleas,  ticks and dangerous mites
Covering up is always beneficial upon the outdoors
Whether you explore the forests or hike on the moors
Thus be it seaside or riverside
In protective clothing it's good to hide

Ah Take a break from going to the money bank
visit another place of natures treasures
Visit today a river bank.<img src='/s/images/smile/happy.gif'>
Lots of flora and fauna all about
Some come with a snout, some with a spout
Yeah time to go out and about

A great eye opener to nature's treasures. The idea of a visit to a riverbank is a beautiful idea of simplicity abundant in the richness of nature's treasures and of all that is important and valuable in life. Well done and thanks to the Poet.

A great reminder that the real wealth is in the other bank. But no withdrawals demanded, needed or encouraged. A brilliant poem.

PH acting up as is usual. Wrote a nifty comment and PH ate it up and left me with an empty comment box. So I am outfoxing this and writing this in a comment box on another site and then I will copy and paste it to this site. PH is starting to be more work than it is worth... except I love reading other people's poetry and this is the best writing group in which to do that. Now to the best of my recollection I pointed out that your nature scenes were very poetic and knowledgeable and I really liked the way you brought in the truth about protecting oneself from the buglife! That gave your poem verisimilitude in addition to beauty! Well written, my friend! I really like the way you added truth and realism to your poem which is refreshing

Lovely poem! I totally agree - such fun to be had in exploring a river bank. I've seen how it can fascinate kids and take them out of the clutches of cyber space. I wrote a poem about a river experience earlier this year. It's called Solo River Adventurer. And since you live in Tanzania, you might enjoy my Sigi River poem written in Amani,

The most important bank of all - the bank of the river. You had me wading around with you. Great to meet again in PH!

Great illustrations and an inspiring poem, Zaynab. But don't mention seeds to me! Some rascal gave me six different types of seeds a few weeks back. My garden is like a minature jungle so I had to clear a space four yards square to make room for planting. Put my back out for a month! Just recovering! There is much joy exploring River banks, I agree.
