Patterns Poem by Emma Beverage

Patterns

Flame
kisses
paper edge
bright
orange
black
gray
patterns
of thought
about patterns
of my life
spending
time
like an ant
trapped
in a pattern
of eternal
work
for the man
for me
for my sons
work for her
against her
with her
light the flame
to forget
the pattern
of lonely
she brought
you
falling into
another
pattern
is there
no eluding
these
infernal
patterns
