Passin' Through Poem by Claude H Oliver II

Passin' Through

Born of joy, stress and pain
Love to see you this day, child
But you're just passin' through
Loving play each day
School, books, birthdays, friends and parents
But you're just passin' through
On your own - work or career
Family, children - cares so dear
But you're just passin' through
Middle years - retirement, reflection
Graying and collecting wisdom, looking down the road
But you're just passin through
Now you're old and long in tooth
Stooped shoulders, shuffling gait
Aching feet, labored breath
Leaning on those you once carried
Moving toward the exit door
End of all gone before
Saying "hi" and "bye"
You're just passin' through.
