Why does the parijat bloom alone in the night?

So that it does not enamore anyone with its scent

Its pale beauty hidden in the depths of the dark

Can entice no one...

Not for it the gaudy glamour of the rose

Not for it the chance to flirt in the sun

It must surrender its beauty to the silent night

And weep with fragrant passion before the dawn...
