Parents Words To Children Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Parents Words To Children

Do not follow me out of tradition
My artistic talents surpassed by your imagination

Son, take your own path do not look back
Daughter stretch yourself to the limit

Each unique, so diverse
Two minds
Different dreams to follow
Aspire to that dream you hold dear

Never to be afraid of failure
Failure a fact required by life
To strengthen the character
Making the victories sweeter

Reflect then take that plunge
Your talents are not mine
Ideas and compassion either

One thing only to remember
Be true to your own convictions
Then and only then, will contentment stay
Curling up in your heart
There to remain forever
