- Parent - Poem by Aparna Chatterjee

- Parent -

Losing a
Parent
Changes a
Person

It changed him
It changed her

Now that my
Parents are
In their seventies
Don't know
Whether I'll change
And how I'll change
Will I change for the
Worse or change for
The better...
If I happen to lose
Either of them
Or lose them both
Together....

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Here 'him' and 'her' refer to 2 people I know, one lost her mother, the other his father, both in the same year....the mother was in her early 50s and the father was in his late 70s.

Theme could be Apprehension / Speculation - based on a weird kind of fear about the unknown future.
